Fire Crush Revs in Home Opener
Last night I watched the New England Revolution at the Chicago Fire on ESPN2, the first Fire game I’ve been able to see this season. It was a great 4-0 result for Chicago against the team that eliminated them from the playoffs last year, although New England was without a few key players due to injury. The weather looked miserable (cold and constantly raining) but it didn’t appear to slow down the Fire in the first half. A goal by Barrett in the 4th minute, followed by Larentowicz getting ejected for the Revs in the 7th, and then goals by new signing Frankowski, Blanco on a PK, and then Frankowski again put New England away with an hour left in the game. Sweet revenge. The next game for Chicago is on April 12 at San Jose, the new expansion team with an old name.
