Christmas in Jamaica
For our honeymoon Sara and I decided to take inspiration from The Office, staying at two Sandals Resorts in Jamaica over Christmas vacation. Four hours after leaving freezing Chicago we landed in Montego Bay to temperatures in the 80s and sunny skies. An hour and a half taxi ride along the coast brought us to our first hotel, Sandals Dunn’s River. This resort is located on the northern coast of Jamaica, just west of the resort town of Ocho Rios and the famous Dunn’s River Falls. The hotel had two pools with swim-up bars plus the beach, and also several themed restaurants that were very nice.
On Christmas Eve we took a longer taxi ride to Sandals Whitehouse, which is located on the southern coast of Jamaica. The resort complex is comprised of several different villages grouped by architectural design–we stayed in the French village. Also, this Sandals is bigger than Dunn’s River and is located near a wildlife preserve, so it was very peaceful. There were three pools (including the largest in Jamaica) and the beach was two miles long, facing west for beautiful sunsets. We were at the Whitehouse for Christmas day which was nice and sunny with no snow. Sara and I enjoyed both of the Sandals resorts we stayed at and we’re looking forward to spending more time on some of the other Caribbean islands in the future.
